Memoir of An American Rover is set around 500 years after an apocalyptic event which destroyed a large majority of Earth's technology. This page is dedicated to the world of the short story (which is yet to be completed).

The Event[edit]

The cause for this apocalyptic event is unknown to the inhabitants of the world. The most widely accepted belief is that of a incredibly large solar flare or a gamma ray burst, which could of produced an electromagnetic pulse large enough to put a majority of earth's electronics out of use.

Timeline[edit]

2020 - 2150[edit]

  • Extinction event, majority of electronics fried
  • Mass panic ensues following the electromagnetic pulse, cities lose population quickly
  • Age of computers and electronics are over, working computers are an extreme rarity
  • Hoarding of supplies and necessities
  • Famine ensues within less self-sufficient civilizations
  • Governments fail to widely control populations
  • Evidence of birth-defects and sterilization
  • Corrosive and cancerous chemicals pollute the area of large population centers due to neglect
  • Major metropolitan left abandoned and populations are spread across rural areas.

2150 - 2350[edit]

  • Remnants of proto-nations (proto meaning original, the ancient civilizations of the earlier 21st century) struggle to grasp at the remaining amount of power they have as they try to retain semblance of the past, as that age fades

2500[edit]

  • Where the main events take place.
