This page is dedicated to NW Project (Nuclear Winter Project), a developing post-apocalyptic, alternative history, worldbuilding project surrounding a nuclear holocaust and the aftermath of it within the early to mid 21st century.

Outline and premise

After a brief but catastrophic nuclear conflict between the United States and Soviet Union. A short-lived nuclear winter ensues within the next decades, though in America its primarily concentrated within the Northeastern, Eastern Coast and Western Coast regions of the United States, along with various other strategic cities and military points.

The mainland United States was severely fractured after the nuclear strikes and during the nuclear winter across the nation, communication entirely crippled between regions and states. During this time, many regional and local governments claim themselves as the rightful United States government or temporary governing body, though the exact United States government still exists with extensively lost territory.

Armed US Army soldiers, part of the legitimate United States government, move across a snow-covered field and past two deserted snow-covered buildings during a house-to-house weapons search patrol. House-to-house weapons searches are only a small part of a larger peacekeeping and anti-Partitionist operation by the legitimate United States government. Photo was taken during the Early-Reconstruction era of North America.
